  57. are you using?  How must it be adjusted?  I am sick of waiting for Atari mono's

  95. Um, it sounds like you may have forgot to select the 'View Pictures' option.
  96. Pagestream represents all images as a box with an X through it so it can
  97. do fast redraws.

  118. Thanks to all who responded to my request on how to print PostScript
  119. from Timeworks.  Special thanks to the kind soul who gave me the
  120. solution that worked!  Here is what that solution is (sorry, I
  121. already deleted my mail from that person so I can't give credit
  122. where it is due):
  123.  
  124. 1.  Install Timeworks for a generic PostScript printer.
  125. 2.  Run fontwid.app, telling it that I have a PostScript printer.
  126. 3.  Download pscapt.arc from terminator and install it as a desktop
  127.     accessory.  This wonderful program intercepts any PostScript
  128.     stuff which would be send to the serial port, and sends it to
  129.     a file.  (BONUS: it also works with Microsoft Write!)
  130.  
  131. Now to print PostScript from Timeworks I do the following:
  132. 1.  Start up Timeworks and create my document as necessary.
  133. 2.  Use the pscapt accessory to open my capture file.
  134. 3.  Print the document
  135. 4.  Use the pscapt accessory to close the capture file (will close
  136.     itself if Timeworks exits, but seems to be less picky if I
  137.     close it myself).
  138. 5.  Take the disk to the nearest PostScript printer and print it.
  139.

  141. It works very well but there are a few comments worthy of mention:
  142.  
  143. - Microsoft Write checks for the laser as soon as you start the
  144.   program.  Hence you must open the capture file BEFORE starting
  145.   Microsoft Write.  I also found things worked better if I closed
  146.   that file (after starting Microsoft Write) and then opened a
  147.   new capture file for my real printing.
  148.  
  149. - The PostScript file prints fine on a NeXt laser printer.  I had
  150.   some trouble, however, with an Apple LaserWriter (Plus ?).  It
  151.   did not seem to like the "magic word" at the beginning of the
  152.   PostScript file (something like %!PS-Adobe-1.0 but I'm not
  153.   entirely sure that is correct).  I had to delete that first line
  154.   then things worked fine on the Apple.  (To be honest, I'm not
  155.   sure that it was the LaserWriter that was the problem.  I was
  156.   printing through an IBM model 30 which was connected to the
  157.   LaserWriter, along with a number of Macs, via an AppleTalk
  158.   network.  It may have been AppleTalk that didn't like my
  159.   "magic number" and not the printer itself.  Anyway, once I
  160.   removed the first line everything worked just fine!)

  196. Well, I have had no experience with Timeworks, but I can tell you that what
  197. you describe works perfectly with Pagestream 1.8.  I do all of my rough
  198. layout work at home with my cruddy NX-1000, and then print the final draft
  199. at school on a NEC laser.  To my knowledge, Calamus does not support
  200. Postscript, nor is there a conversion utility (I am sure they will come out
  201. with one though).

  261. All very well for SM124 users, but does anyone have a screen-saver for the
  262. Moniterm 19" monitor, I am more than a little paranoid about mine, obviously
  263. it might have to throw 150K of ram at the problem, but any solutions would
  264. be useful (e.g. gently scrolling the bitmap about).
